Environmental degradation

Environmental degradation has damaging effects in the Americas overall. It harms the health of hundreds of millions of people and enormously reduces economic productivity. Long outdated and trash-filled opened sewers leads to contaminated drinking water, beaches and aquifers, diarrheal diseases, malaria, tuberculosis, cholera, foul-smelling waterways, massive fish kills, floating sewage and solid waste debris pollution.
